What Pound Test Should I Use When Shark Fishing In The Gulf Of Mexico? How Do You Rig For Sharks?

What pound test should I use when fishing for sharks at night in the Gulf of Mexico? Should I use braided line? How do you rig up for shark fishing?

if you can afford if braid is the best. but fishing from shore can make you bankrupt. if you go mono id use 40 to 50 lb. test depending on reel size. use 120lb. steel leader with a swival and appropriate hook size for bait being used. i would fill a milk jug with sand and fill up for a weight and tie it to the swival with 20lb. mono. so when the shark hits the weight is freed.

Use a long steel leader and maybe 10 feet of 50 to 80 pound mono shock leader (as its called) above the steel leader sharks regularly roll on your line and have rough skin thay will weaken line.
You can catch huge fish on 25 pound test Trilene Huge game line just set your drag right and use a long heavy leader.
