I am going fishing this weekend and was wondering what works best for catching Rainbow Trout. What do you use?

the best thing to do is to use a size 5 hook with live worms on it , or corn. or a small fake worm
It depends. If you have highly experience trout lures, minnows, freshwater invertbrates(crayfish/hemmgramites) will work better. Earthworms work as well but it is not the trouts common natural bait. I forgot grasshoppers they work well also. Just replicate what you notice the fish is feeding. As for stockers you find these in lakes/ponds , I have noticed they are more likely to take artifical bait like salmon eggs, doughbait, cheese, marshmelllows.
There are excellent reasons why some lures have been on the promote for decades. I am more of a glide fisherman, but when I have used spinners, I’ve by far had the most luck with Hen Tails. Color will depend on the fill up, some things work better than others from one place to a additional. I would recommend you carry some in black, olive, brown, and then also some bright green, pink, yellow and orange. I also recommend you lean towards the smaller sizes- work just as well as the larger one, and not so likely to spook the fish when it hits the fill up
Okay, Ive done alot of research and this is what I have learned: for STOCKED trout, use powerbait trout bait (pink, orange, yellow, BRIGHT!) This isnt going to work AS WELL for the native trout but it still works. Slip a 1/4 – 3/8 oz egg sinker on your line and then tie on a size 10-14 barrel swivel as a stopper for the weight. Attach a size 8-10 gang hook on the additional end of the swivel. (gang hooks are pieces of fishing line with 2 hooks tied on it (google image it) now place on your powerbait on the hooks so that it looks like two balls attached to a string (no metal hook showing) toss it in, let it hit bottom, reel in the slack, wait for a monster…. this is for still fill up, if your fishing a river or creek then replace the egg sinker with split shot weights (heavy enough to sink the rig but light enough that it is able to bounce along the bottom of the river with the current)
This practice is by far the most well loved among experienced trout fishermen, it works everytime. Excellent luck
Some times glide fishing is on the thought and its excellent for me some times or fishing with all power bait may help you out too. Excellent luck on it too.

just in case none of these helpful hints work, read this, it might help you to find a way to get bit (you know just in case the trout aren’t biting)
