I am going to be fishing for fun, and really don’t care what I catch. I just want to cast out a line pretty far and leave it, and see if I can get anything (this may not be the best strategy, but I do not have the patience to keep casting, etc). What would be the best bait to use? What fish could I likely catch this way? Any tips for my suggested mode would be appeciated?

You can use frozen peas to catch all the vegetarian fish. I have fed them (unshelled) peas while snorkeling and seen some that were over twenty pounds. You might try putting three on one baitholder hook, a additional thing to use for the vegetarians is moss wrapped around the hook. You can find it (the moss) all around rocks nearest to and in the fill up around shorelines of creeks, bays and lakes. The locals pull tiny shrimp out of the seaweed piles that amass all along the shorelines and use a large clear (fill up fillable) bobber one split up full of fill up to cast it out and it sinks to the depth where the air left in it stops it’s descent. of course chunks of shrimp and pieces of frozen anchovies or mussels will work nearly as well.
