Check out the Cherry Springs State Park in Potter County (aka: God’s Country). It’s in the north/inside area of the state. It is a rustic campground, there is no running fill up or electricity on their camp sites. There is brilliant trout fishing right in the park, you could camp along the stream and there are over 1,000,000 acres of undeveloped land in the county. If they aren’t biting in the park itself, you can take a reasonable ride to many additional streams.
I spent a week there last year. The first day I spellbound, cleaned and (unwisely) stored my daily limit of fish in a hollow tree stump with some ice on the edge of our campsite. The following morning the fish were gone but there were bounty of original bear tracks around the stump.
