Check out these websites, they show you all of the major fishing areas in NY. The first one includes links to charter boat companies if you would like to try that way, or you can look at the third link listed and check out some of the boat rental companies in NY. Their websites should show you which fishing spots they are close to.http://www.nycfishing.com/http://www.newyorkgameandfish.com/fishin…http://www.boatrenting.com/client/NewYor…
I hope this helps. Have fun and good luck!

go to nys dec website,
lake champlain is getting alot of press for the small mouth bass and larges, but there are others- walleye, pike, etc.
lakes erie and ontario are also great fisheries. erie is getting press for smallies, as seen on most bass tournies. ontario is getting press for trout, salmon, and some bass. but both lakes have walleye, too. (BIG fish acrossed the water)
thousand island area great for most fish that swims.
if you have a dep permit, all of their waters are excellent fisheries. if you don't, you can apply for one and get it over the 'net'.
