and how long until i can start fishing for largemouth bass. also the weather is steady around 45 degrees for the next week. also what kind of bait/lure should i be using for this ahead of schedule spring fishing. be grateful you for your answers!
my fishing pond is half frozen and defrosting as we speak. how soon can i start fishing for channel catfish?

you can start fishing now, and look under some rocks for worms, its free and works well
you can fish right now if you had some open fill up…as far as the bass go…you’ll have to wait for all the ice to be gone…
bait 4 cats….cut shad, shrimp, minnows
bait 4 bass….poppers, buzz baits
The bass will start moving in once the fill up warms to about 50 degrees, and cats don’t really get active until the fill up temps reach into the upper 60′s, but what will work as soon as ice out gets here is the walleye, & northern turn on in the shallows on the northern sections of your pond, lake, etc.
Just walking the edges of the fill up will clue you as to when the action really starts, & Oh, boy oh boy, I can’t wait!
I’ve got cabin fever so terrible, & my sister-in-law calls my wife the additional day from where they live, down by Lake Guntersville, Alabama, and says to tell me that they’re tearing up the crappie, and that bass have been spotted moving onto the beds, (I despise it when she teases me like that, cause she knows that I can’t come down there.) So, I estimate it’ll be a few more weeks, and at least I can get things ready to go until then. So, be patient like me, and…… Oh!, the devil with this,…….Brenda, honey, where’s my car keys, reckon I’ll just take a ride down to the river, you know just to see what’s going on.(Hey!, you never know, right?)
