I was just wondering how do you use the drag adjustment knob the on the top on the fishing reel? Cause I’ve noticed if you make it to tight, it wont cast out far.
Be grateful you.

You don’t really mean the drag adjustment . You are referring to the tension adjustment that allows you to cast different weights of lures without back lashing. To adjust this you need to tie on a lure you will be using and hod the rod out and level with the ground. Hit the thumbar and and the lure should slowly fall to the ground and the spool should not make an over run of line when the lure hits the ground. If it falls too quick an over run will be made . You need to tighten the tension until it is adjusted correctly. If i doesn’t fall at all you need to loosen it up just slightly. And you are right. If the spool tension is too tight it will not cast far at all.If it is too loose it will back lash every cast.
the drag shouldn’t have anything to do with casting. The drag system is designed for fighting fish, it allows line to be pulled out. Tighten it and it takes more pressure to pull the line, loosen it and it takes less pressure to pull the line out.
it doesnt effect the casting but it just makes the line simpler to pull out…and it is all up to you how tight the drag is but i like mine to be looser just so that the fish can run and i can real them back in but many people dont like playing fish off the drag and just want to real them in and get it over with so there is usually really tight
Well, the tighter the drag, the harder for the fish to pull out line, the looser the drag, the simpler for line to be pulled out. Hope I helped.
I don’t reckon you really mean the drag knob. I reckon it is best if you take a look here it will help. Its free.
