That’s pretty generic. What are you fishing for, with, and where? What kind of line are you using? What size hooks, weights and lures?

In my state it’s illegal to place anymore than one hook on a line unless your ‘jug’ fishing for cats and carp.

look up the improved clinch knot and the palomar knot. they work wonders, and you retain like 100% line strength with the clinch and +100% with the palomar

This website shows you the knots you need to know, in animated form, so you can learn them simpler, the palomar is a excellent knot, but all of the knots on here are secure.

I feel that it depends not so much of your desired casting distance but rather the type of rig you would be using.

There are a variety of methods to present your bait and each mode have different solutions and tips to improve the overall casting distance and maintain the bait.

Perhaps you can share where you would be fishing at and whats your setup like so that we can exchange tips which might more helpful.

    Regards
