I want to catch a few grasshoppers and use them for fishing bait but I need a way to keep them alive in a container so I can catch a lot of them and use them every now and then. How can I set up a simple habitat to keep them alive in?

Why would cathing grasshoppers be illegal, anywhere for any reason?
Your going to need to build each a comfortable room, with atleast a twin bed and a half bath for each. Mini bar optional (but appreciated)
It would be better to freeze them, the fish don’t care if they’re alive. Of course it is officially authorized, grasshoppers are regarded as pests.
Did you just seriously just question if its illegal? …Of course its illegal, especially in your area. This is since people have done this before, using grasshoppers as bait. But soon they started coming in swarms and eating our plantation since of this. So the government set a law not to kill any grasshopper or you will go to jail with a fine of $250. Bush said it was do to the dying species, but they wanted to keep the intelligence of the small insects secret so no one probable anything out of the run of the mill.
So dont kill any grasshoppers your whole life, in fact, dont even look at them and you wont be tempted to do so.
Snub answer number three! He is wacky. I all ways used a Maison jar with wholes in the lid, when I was done fishing I would let them go. You want to keep them; an aquarium, with a wirer cover should work, and feed them original grass or breed should work, and a dish of fill up. Never tried to keep them alive, I had to much fun catching them in the cow pasture.
Have you ever gone to a Chinese food restaurant and seen those small-standard-large boxes they keep on show? The ones that have four folding tops? I can’t remember what they’re called right off hand.
If you want to keep a dozen or so crickhoppers alive just for a single trip, use those. Crawdads come in them also.
But, if you want to raise them full-time, a ten-gallon fish tank would suffice. You don’t even have to buy one new just for this purpose. You can pick one up cheap at a yard sale, swapmeet, or second-had store. Add any kind of screen to the top of it to keep the critters from getting out, throw some dirt (about an inch) on the bottom of the tank, then a layer of grass over it for them to hide in. No need to worry about feeding them, they’ll feed on the grass. Add more every so regularly.
