10 pound test mono should do it while still being simple to work with. Also try using a braid, much stronger with a smaller diameter than mono. With that said, maybe you were catching something with teeth that cut it….just a possibility.
This is the 3rd time you posted this question. You really need to rephrase your question before you could get a better answer. Try something like: “Serious trout fishermen, what test line for 2-10lb trout?”. Question them why they pick that particular test line while you’re at it. I reckon you’ll get different answers if you do that.
Tell people what kind of rod and reel you’re using. List make and model if possible. Let people know if you’re fishing from shore or from a boat. If you’re fishing on a boat, were you trolling or were you bait/lure fishing; different styles of fishing will get different answers. Tell people what kind of line you’re using now and what kind of knot you used too. There is a possibility that the knot you used is the cause of the problem.
im a bass fisherman but i also fish for trout with the same pole the only test line i use is 12-14 lbs and it works on every thing i fish for and if you get the right color for the lake you fish at the fish wont even notice the line
it usually says on the package of the fishing line what size fish it will hold. dont go too strong or it will make it simpler for the fish to see the line…. excellent luck, and lucky fishing.
get 8 lb cajun line. its excellent
