Are fishing rods measured from the tip to the top or bottom of the handle?

I’m ordering some fishing rods online. Does length listed contain the handle or is that only for the exposed part of the rod bemused? For example, there are a bunch of rods all listed at 6’6″ but there are five different handle designs, all different lengths. Is 6’6″ the overall length or just the length of the rod forward of the grips?

When it comes to fishing rods its the full length
including the handle reel seat etc so when it says 6″6 its from butt to tip

They are measured from the very butt of the rod To just under the last guide there are some sites on rod building that will tell you more one is http://www.mudhole.com. excellent site also if you want to build your own rods!
