Stamp Falls is the best place to see migrating salmon on Vancouver Island. Any time from early September to late October is a great time to visit. If possible, choose a sunny mid-morning because the angle of the sun is best to see the fish in the pool below the falls and best for photography.

When I was fishing at sandy point (at 2:30pm) with my brother we walked out really far when the tide was out and we didn’t realize that the tide had come into the main part so we tried to find the shallowest bit to swim in but the water was past my shoulders and there was a big strong current going straight through
so without any other option we had to swim now before we were under water,we put our bags over our heads and we swam and got washed down about 15 meters down away from the main land onto some small pathetic island we looked for all possible ways to get back but the tide had come in way too far and the current was to strong,
so being stuck there we thought we would have to wait until midnight until the tide went out and it didn’t help with dingo tracks on the island, so we prepared to stay the night and we started to build a seat in a tree up high.
We were sitting there for about an hour and then we heard a boat we shined them with our flash lights (lucky I brought mine or we would have been stuffed) and they came over (luckily) and they said do you need any help? And we explained the situation and the three fishermen replied “you’s are mad keen fishermen because there’s a big croc nest just where you were!
